The experience

Find eagles along the rivers of Squamish

The Squamish Valley is known for the seasonal gathering of bald eagles drawn by salmon spawning in local rivers. The highest numbers are usually present from mid-December to mid-January, while significant numbers can also be seen in November and February.

The eagles begin arriving in mid-November and stay until mid-February. Our land-based tours visit locations where eagles gather along the Squamish and Cheakamus Rivers, with the flexibility to explore more than one viewing area.

Choose the accessible viewing area along the Brackendale eagle viewing dyke, or ask your driver to take you to less-travelled spots where eagles perch in trees. Some viewing locations are beside the road; others involve a short walk through old-growth forest.

What You Can Expect

From rainforest canopy to mountain views.

This is a great option for a chance to view the stunning nature that surrounds the city. Take in the spectacular skyline as you travel across the historic Lions Gate Bridge, which was built in 1937.

Next up is the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park where you can cross one of the world’s longest suspension footbridge. Prepare yourself to walk 450 feet across and 230 feet above the Capilano River! Visit the Treetops Adventure forest canopy and the Cliffwalk for a heart stopping cliff side journey.

Take the Gondola up Grouse Mountain to a viewpoint 3,700 feet above the city. Enjoy the array of activities, and explore the Refuge of Endangered Wildlife, home to two grizzly bears. There is plenty to explore at this resort, along with several dining options and Theatre in the Sky.

After creating some long lasting memories visiting two of Vancouver’s hot spots, your tour will conclude at your starting point.

Amir was our driver from Vancouver International Airport to Whistler and back again. He was supremely kind, patient, and professional. When we were stuck in a highway closure for over 8 hours due to an investigation after an accident that occurred earlier in the day, he patiently waited it out with us and drove us safely to our destination. He was also very kind when one of our children became ill in his car. In addition, Amir arrived early each time to pick us up and helped us with our luggage. His car was also spotless and he drove safely and comfortably. We enjoyed exceptional service from beginning to end! I can’t thank Amir enough for his professionalism and kindness. We will be sure to book with Alpine North, and hopefully Amir, again!

The vehicles are spacious and clean. Sulhi has twice driven us to Whistler. He is an excellent driver and was very attentive and kind. I felt safe in very large vehicles with him as the operator. I will continue to use Alpine North to get to Whistler and hope to have Sulhi as the driver for every trip!
