How bear activity changes through the year.
Discover how the seasons shape bear activity around Whistler and Blackcomb, from spring grazing to increased summer activity and late-fall hibernation.
During early spring, from mid-May to mid-June, the lush green grass creates opportunities to observe resident black bears around Whistler and Blackcomb. Bears may be seen along the side of the highway or on ski trails as they graze in the mountain surroundings.
During late spring, from mid-June to mid-July, the bears continue grazing on different grasses. As summer arrives, resident black bears become more active throughout the area. Wildlife viewing can vary depending on natural animal behaviour, but the tour focuses on exploring areas where bears may be found.
As late fall approaches, the bears eventually prepare for and enter hibernation. The seasonal changes—from spring grazing to increased summer activity and eventual late-fall hibernation—make different times of the year offer different wildlife viewing experiences.

Amir was our driver from Vancouver International Airport to Whistler and back again. He was supremely kind, patient, and professional. When we were stuck in a highway closure for over 8 hours due to an investigation after an accident that occurred earlier in the day, he patiently waited it out with us and drove us safely to our destination. He was also very kind when one of our children became ill in his car. In addition, Amir arrived early each time to pick us up and helped us with our luggage. His car was also spotless and he drove safely and comfortably. We enjoyed exceptional service from beginning to end! I can’t thank Amir enough for his professionalism and kindness. We will be sure to book with Alpine North, and hopefully Amir, again!Posted on Google![]()

The vehicles are spacious and clean. Sulhi has twice driven us to Whistler. He is an excellent driver and was very attentive and kind. I felt safe in very large vehicles with him as the operator. I will continue to use Alpine North to get to Whistler and hope to have Sulhi as the driver for every trip!Posted on Google![]()
